1. What have you done in the last 12 months?

Applied for, received and coordinated the Cariboo Chilcotin Woodstove Exchange

  • 61/85 stoves changed out: Williams Lake 20/25 within airshed, Quesnel 15/16 within airshed
  • Presented or to be presented to all City Councils and CRD on results of woodstove exchange
  • 10 presentations to community service groups throughout the Cariboo
  • Displays at 3 City Halls, Libraries, and retailers and various community events.
  • Built and operated Burn Trailer for Education
    – Attended all home shows in the region, Fall Fairs, Winter Festival in Quesnel
    – “Meaningful” conversations with over 1100 people on Woodstoves and Health, proper seasoning of firewood, good burning practices
    – Support and mentoring for 100 Mile as they do not have an Air Quality Roundtable but are currently looking to set one up.

Earth Day: Air Quality Station

  • Air Quality Game with matching behaviours to outputs
  • 335 school children participants

Clean Air Day

  • Partnered with Climate Action Group, Cariboo Observer, City of Quesnel to conduct interviews of Alternative Commuters to put in paper and offer a prize to
  • River Walk Activity: Informational Posters posted around the River Walk with passports available to kids to fill out for prizes.
  • Articles in the Paper
  • City providing Free Transit for the day

Commuter Challenge

  • Promotion and recognition of alternative commuting through advertising, stories and prizes

Winter Festival

  • Air Quality Commercials facts playing on computer as part of open house, wood with moisture meter for kids to try
  • 800 plus visitors

School Programs

  • 3 in school presentations specifically on Air Quality not counting Earth Day
  • All in school presentation work in some air quality principles such as good wood burning, alternative commuting, healthy air for us and for environment

Applied for and received BC Gaming Funding to support Air Quality Activities

  • This money has been used to pay for Quesnel Air Quality Roundtable Coordination for the last 10 months

Created and Distributed an informational brochure for spring/fall burning to media, Rona and Eagle

Attended and made comment on the Quesnel Fringe area OCP updates

Attended BC Lung Conference – Conference Proceedings are on website

Changed and updated website hosting

Presentation with Chair to Northern Health requesting ongoing support of the Roundtable

Presentations to Quesnel Lions with Past Chair

Partnered with the Climate Action Group to host a Climate Action Forum May 2011

Presentations to Rotary, Lions, Joint Planning, Chamber, Quesnel Economic Development, other service groups on 5 year review.

Air Quality and Health Forum for late October in partnership with Williams Lake, maybe Prince George which would include, afternoon presentation for parents, evening to general public, and lunch hour to Chamber of Commerce/Business – Some targeted professionals. Partner with BC Lung.

Develop fact sheet on Outdoor Wood Boilers, Wood Furnaces and Open Burning

Work with City and C.R.D. to update links to A.Q. resources.
